Emily Stevens was born in New York, New York on February 27, 1882. Her father was Robert E. Stevens, a stage director and who later co-directed a film in 1919 called OUT OF THE FOG. Emily, herself, began her career as a stage actress and at the age of 33 appeared for the first on celluloid in the film CORA where she had the lead role.
