Satya Saha was born on 25 December, 1934 in Fateyabad, Patia, Chittagong, East Bengal, British India (now Bangladesh). He was the son of Prasannakumar Saha. He started his music lesson under his uncle Rabindrapal Saha. He also took lessons of classical music and devotional Bhajan songs from Pandit Suparna Nandi during 1946.
