Jane Catherine Hyland (Jane Hyland) was born and raised in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia to English immigrants, her mother from London and her father a Liverpudlian bookseller. She moved to London England to pursue a career as a painter and dancer, studying at the London School of Contemporary Dance.
